Welcome - Noah
Modisett
Introductions / Open Mike
Keynote Speaker
Larry Frank
Deputy Mayor for Neighborhood and Community Services
Mr. Frank will provide an overview from the Mayor's
perspective of the work of the Neighborhood Council Review Commission and their
recent recommendations .
Followed by a dialogue with the audience.
Point / Counterpoint
We're going to try something a little different.
In the wake of the NC Review Commission recommendations, we felt it would be a
good idea to look at an overview of the need for and the effectiveness of
Neighborhood Councils. For that we've invited Sandy
Brown of the Holmby Westwood Property Owners Association, and frequent
critic of NC's to debate with Greg Nelson the
effectiveness of Neighborhood Councils.
Special Guest
Hon. Zev Yaroslavsky
Los Angeles County Supervisor, 3rd District
Supervisor Yaroslavsky, a long time participant in
discussions about the growth of Los Angeles, has recently put forward an
argument in favor of turning Pico and Olympic Boulevards into one way streets
from downtown to the beach. He will join us on the 21st to discuss
that proposal and others related to mobility in the LA region.
Lunch Breakout Sessions
Save the Date for July 21st.
